What will you do with Your Free Day this leap year?

Every leap year we get an extra day.

The Your Free Day initiative aims to get you thinking about how you could use that time for a good cause. Why not support a charity by providing a little of what you do best for free, raise some money for a good cause or even just help someone in need out for the day?

We’ll all be giving our time, as well as some of our services, to Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity. They provide emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness.

Here’s how we’ll be spending our free days:

Battle of the boutiques — We’ve got three teams to compete in a ‘The Apprentice’ style challenge. I’ll be Alan Sugar and Rob will be Karren Brady (I haven’t told him yet). We’re taking over two Rainbow Trust charity shops in Leatherhead and Cheam as well as setting up a pop-up stall in Mold. We’ll be doing everything legally possible to bring in extra money on the day, selling whatever we can to raise a pound or two.

Workshops — Janina and Sabine are running spoken and written workshops for the Rainbow Trust team. They’ve both been adapted to meet the needs of their people who work round the clock to support the families of children with serous illnesses.

Keep an eye out for updates on twitter (#yourfreeday) Facebook and LinkedIn.

Perhaps you’d like to join in by doing something with Your Free Day? Rainbow Trust is always looking for extra help and donations, or maybe there’s a charity closer to home you could help out? It doesn’t have to be 29th February — it could be any day this year. If you take part, we’d love to hear about it.
